EMMY NOMINATIONS!!!

The Emmy Nominees were announced this morning. While I was happy and not at all surprised to see Mad Men and Modern Family receive multiple nominations, there were some happy surprises and some seriously overlooked contenders, in my opinion.

First, the good:

Friday Night Lights. This is one of my favorite shows ever and I am thrilled to see the four nominations. Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler are both incredible and i'm glad they were nominated again this year. The show finally got it's much deserved nod for Outsanding Drama Series, and the series finale episode, Always was nominated for writing. You can bet I'll be watching the red carpet specials for a glimpse of Coach Eric Taylor in a tux.

Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose!

Cat Deeley! I have been saying for years that Cat Deeley, the host of So You Think You Can Dance has been repeatedly overlooked for Outsanding Reality/Competition Host. She really is part of what makes that show so enjoyable and so personal. You can actually see how invested she is in the dancers and the SYTYCD family. Also, one time I was on a game show that Cat Deeley hosted and she was just the sweetest, both on and off camera. So there.

Conan got nominated and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno did not. That is all.

Oh, and Miss Blankenship!!!!

The bad:

No love for Community. One of the most original shows to hit network primetime in a long while, this show continues to get better and more innovative (and hilarious) all the time. I was hoping for at least a show nomination and/or a writing nom, if not a supporting actor nomination for Danny Pudi (Abed).

While I'm so glad that Parks and Recreation was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, and Amy Poehler was recognized for her work as Leslie Knope, RON SWANSON, played superbly by Nick Offerman was a glaring omission. I know that the male cast of Modern Family took up most of the category, and I love them all, but I would trade Jon Cryer's nomination for Offerman's, and if I could add an honorable mention to Aziz Ansari.

I'm sure i'm forgetting something else that made me say "yay" or pissed me off, but there you have it.

Here's the complete list of nominees:
